About Course

Novatrex International Institute trains students toward NCTVET certification in Allied Health (Patient Care), opening the door to paid work in hospitals, clinics, nursing homes and private care across Jamaica.

The programme is blended — theory is delivered online so you can study around work and family, while practical skills are taught in person and assessed through supervised clinical placement.

On completion, students will be able to:
Deliver bedside patient care and assist with personal hygiene
Measure, record and interpret vital signs
Apply infection prevention and control procedures, including correct PPE use
Monitor blood glucose and respond appropriately to abnormal readings
Measure blood pressure to standard technique and classify readings correctly
Recognise cardiac and neurological emergencies and escalate appropriately
Perform wound care and dressing changes within scope of practice
Stage pressure injuries and implement prevention protocols
Maintain professional conduct, ethics and patient confidentiality
Document clinical observations to professional standard

Course Content

Fundamentals of practice, ethics, patient rights, infection control

Diabetes management, blood glucose monitoring, hypo/hyperglycaemia response

Hypertension, blood pressure measurement, cardiac warning signs

Neurological emergency — stroke recognition and escalation

Wound care and dressing procedures

Pressure area care and prevention
